At midnight every night, the world changes. Everything stops. Everyone—yes, including you—turns into immobile crystal coffins, oblivious to the world around them.
Only a select few are awake and aware during this time. We call it the Dark Hour.
During the Dark Hour, creatures called Shadows prey upon the living. Those who have been preyed upon by the Shadows become listless and apathetic. The media calls this "Apathy Syndrome". We call these people "The Lost".
Some people who can see the Dark Hour have a power inside them called Persona. Those who have Persona can learn to summon them and use their special abilities to fight the Shadows.
Several Persona users have banded together to form SEES—the Specialized Extracurricular Extermination Squad—a group devoted to hunting and destroying Shadows during the Dark Hour.
I joined SEES at the start of the year. Our membership has grown quite a bit since April...
Yukari-san is one of my classmates at Gekkoukan, and one of the first people I met when I moved into the dorm. She's very pretty and very popular, but she's a very down-to-earth girl. Her father was involved in the incident ten years ago that started all this. She looks up to Mitsuru-senpai and frequently bickers with Junpei. She's in Archery Club, so naturally she uses bows when we fight Shadows.
After the others found information on Ikutsuki's computer that shed new light on Takeba-hakase's involvement in the incident, Yukari-san's Persona, Io, transformed into Isis.

Junpei's a bit of a slacker and more than a bit of a lech. He thinks he's the coolest and most charming guy in school. He hates studying, and seems to really love fighting Shadows. It seems he and Yukari-san have known each other for a long time; he always calls her "Yuka-tan". They're not seeing each other, though!
When Junpei feels like someone else is showing him up, he gets testy and does reckless things to try and prove himself. Despite that, he's actually a pretty reliable and likeable guy. He's just lazy and has crappy luck with women. The only girl he's ever gotten anywhere with was one of our enemies, the Strega member Chidori. After Chidori sacrificed herself to save Junpei's life, her Persona fused with Hermes, giving rise to Trismegistus.

Sanada-senpai is the captain of the Gekkoukan boxing team, and has never lost a match. Aloof and very serious, he can be a bit hard to approach, and it takes a long time to get comfortable with him. Despite his popularity with girls—especially girls in the lower grades—he has absolutely zero skill with women. Most of the time, all he does is train to get stronger.
When I first joined SEES, Sanada-senpai had been badly wounded by a powerful Shadow. It was a long time before he was able to go to Tartarus with us again. It's hard to believe something could hurt him that badly...
After Aragaki-san was murdered by Strega, Sanada-senpai's Persona, Polydeuces, transformed into a more powerful form, Caesar.

Mitsuru-senpai is the President of the Student Council, and a wealthy society daughter. Her family owns the Kirijo Group, the zaibatsu that built Gekkoukan.
Mitsuru-senpai is poised, graceful, elegant, and glamorous. Everybody admires and envies her. She never lets it go to her head, though; in fact, she seems to largely ignore it. "Kuudere" is a good word to describe her personality.
Mitsuru-senpai is completely focused on SEES' mission to eliminate Shadows, but she never lets her studies or her duties to the Student Council lapse. She also makes sure we all keep our grades up. She even forced us all to take summer classes during break!
At the start of term, she provided support while we explored Tartarus; she joined us in battle after Fuuka joined SEED.
Mitsuru-senpai went through a rough patch after her father was killed. Once she recovered her resolve to fight, her Persona, Penthesilea, transformed into Artemisia.

Aigis is an "anti-Shadow weapon" built by the Kirijo Group. She's a highly advanced combat android who can equip an array of powerful guns. Amazingly, despite being a machine, she also has the power of Persona!
Despite her amazing power and computational abilities, however, nobody bothered to program her to understand normal human behavior. This has made everyday life with her in the dorm...interesting...
Aigis was badly damaged in a battle with Mochizuki Ryoji in December. After she was repaired and returned to the dorm, she seemed much more human, and had a new Persona, Athena.

Ken-kun came to live in the dorm during summer break. Later, he joined SEES. A lot of us were reluctant to let him fight, but it was his decision.
Despite his age, Ken-kun is very mature, intelligent, and serious. Every now and then, he lets his guard down and acts like a regular little kid, but that's a side of him we don't see very often.
We learned a terrible truth on October 4: Ken-kun's mother was killed two years ago by Aragaki-san. Since then, he's been bent on revenge, biding his time until just the right moment to call him out and kill him. Things didn't quite work out like he planned...but the result was unfortunately the same. After that, Ken-kun ran away for a while, but when he came back, he had new resolve and new determination...and a new Persona, Kala-Nemi.

After Koro-chan's old master, a priest at Naganaki-jinja, died, he mostly stayed in front of the shrine steps, protecting the area. The whole neighborhood knew Koro-chan and regarded him fondly.
One night, Sanada-senpai came across Koro-chan, who was fighting a Shadow...and winning. Senpai was completely surprised that a dog could defeat a Shadow, but Koro-chan was hurt badly in the fight. We took him to a vet and he recovered. After that, Koro-chan came to stay at the dorm and, incredibly, joined SEES.
How or why, I have no idea, but Koro-chan is able to fight with a knife and, more impressively, summon the Persona Cerberus. His slash attacks are devastating, and his fire magic is insanely powerful.
He also has a habit of finding rare and useful items lying around whenever I walk him. Good boy, Koro-chan!

Fuuka-chan is in Class 2-E. For several days, we heard rumors that something serious had happened to her. When we started investigating, we discovered she'd somehow been trapped in Tartarus! We set out on a rescue mission, and managed to find her; she'd spent several days running and hiding from Shadows.
It turns out she was able to survive thanks to her Persona, Lucia. Fuuka-chan is able to scan an area and detect the strengths and weaknesses of Shadows. However, her Persona lacks offensive or defensive capabilities, so she provides support from outside Tartarus. Once Fuuka-chan took over the support role, Mitsuru-senpai was able to fight alongside us.
Recently, Fuuka-chan's Persona transformed into Juno. Nobody's really sure why...
